Sharing is Caring

I would like to ask you about the paintings and drawings in the house, while I still can: who made them, where they came from, and which ones matter to you, and why.

There is a free archive for exactly this, called Philoteknia. You put an artwork on record with a few photographs and what you know about it, and the record stays with it, wherever it goes later.

Shall we do the first one together next time I come round? This is where it is: https://philotheka.com?lvl=material&mat=mail

I came across Philoteknia, a free archive where artists put their own work on record: photographs, what it is, when they made it. The record stays with the work when it is sold or given away, so the artist's name goes with it.

It could be useful for your circle or your students, right at the start, when nobody else is keeping track yet. There is a page for artists here: https://philotheka.com/for-artists?lvl=material&mat=mail

So much of the art that passes through your hands has no record at all once it leaves: who made it, where it has been.

Philoteknia is a free archive where whoever looks after an artwork can put it on record with photographs and what they know, and the record follows the work from one home to the next. Perhaps something to mention to your customers: https://philotheka.com?lvl=material&mat=mail
